Maral Darouei is Assistant Professor of Organizational Psychology at the department of Management and Organization at VU Amsterdam. Prior to joining VU, Maral worked as an Assistant Professor of Organizational Psychology at Leiden University, where she also obtained her PhD. She has spent time abroad as a visiting scholar in the UK at Cranfield School of Management and at the Business School of the National University of Singapore. She is an entrepreneurial researcher who likes to apply science to the “real world” and make societal impact. For instance, together with HEINEKEN she worked on a research project aimed at fostering sustainable drinking among students. Her main research interest revolves around understanding how contemporary work and employment forms, such as working from home, relate to individuals’ career sustainability. Her work has received wide media coverage and in particular, her research on the consequences of working from home, has featured in Dutch newspapers, such as Het Parool, De Telegraaf, AD, NOS as well as on the radio (BNR Nieuwsradio, Omroep West).
